Bella Brodie reports on a brand new lodge for 2024…

One of the ‘big reveals’ for Willerby at The Great Holiday Home Show in Harrogate in September was the brand new New Holland lodge, which has eye-catching décor and features, and was a big hit with show-goers.

With the BS: 3632 (2015) residential specification as standard, the New Holland is packed full of great features that are usually optional extras on many other models. This special edition model has the highest specification of any Willerby holiday lodge, so for buyers looking to push the boat out, this is a great target lodge.

EXTERNAL SPECIFICATION
Externally, the New Holland is clad in CanExel Mist Grey as standard, although other options are available. The front section has extensive glazing, with a single sliding patio door to one side to allow the lodge to open out onto decking.

INTERNAL APPOINTMENT
Designed to feel like a premium penthouse suite, the deluxe look in the New Holland is achieved by use of a bold blue colour scheme, balanced with a graphite palette and warm oak tones. It’s bang-on-trend and rather stunning!

ACCOMMODATION AND LAYOUT
The model shown here is a 40ft x 20, two-bedroom version sleeping four, and there’s a further three-bedroom model available in the same sized footprint, sleeping six with a master suite and two twin bedded rooms instead of one. However, if you choose to add a pull-out sofa bed in the lounge, that will raise the potential occupancy further by another two guests, so it’s an option well worth considering.

ENTRANCE
Near the side entrance there’s a double, full-height cupboard housing the boiler and washer/dryer, which is included as standard.

OPEN PLAN LIVING/DINING AREA
The dining area benefits from dual-aspect windows, and a dresser is both stylish and practical here. We love how the solid blue is used as a feature backdrop to the shelving, and also framing the lower section of the breakfast bar, helping to define this area clearly.

Opposite, a feature fireplace houses a wood-burner style electric fire, with mantel and striking oak panelling above. Either side of the fireplace are half height windows, so there’s plenty of light flooding in, and a lovely symmetry to the design. The aesthetic is particularly pleasing in this zone, and we’d also firmly applaud the choice of furniture here which is upright enough to offer good support, while also adding a slightly formal feel in keeping with the quality feel of the lodge.
The TV cabinet matches the dining area dresser with the blue panelling and oak sides, and the coffee table finishes this area perfectly.

A pretty, U-shaped kitchen has a raised breakfast bar to one side, with tubular pendant lighting above, and useful shelving to one end.
There’s plenty of work surface in this model, and it has a clean, fresh feel thanks to the colour scheme.

The handles here help give an almost subliminal rustic touch, matching the country-house styling in the rest of the living area and helping to re-enforce the sense of character throughout. Two of the wall-hung cabinets have display fronts, so the New Holland has a real home-from-home feel.

The American-style fridge freezer is an impressive size, and the integrated wine cooler comes as standard in this model. Before leaving this area, it’s worth looking down and taking in the flooring used here, as it ties in with the units perfectly, creating a warm, natural feel.

BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS
The master is just as striking with units in the same blue and oak framework, incorporating a double wardrobe, dressing table and an en suite shower room.
The bed has a large, soft headboard with a blue feature wall as the backdrop. Again, there’s great symmetry here with the strip windows either side, and a feeling of quality in the furnishings. Opposite the bed there’s a dressing table and stool with mirror above, and a further dressing area with wardrobe storage and mirrored doors offering an opportunity to check your outfit in full, and this leads to the en suite.

The second bedroom has a slightly simpler look and feel with 3ft wide single beds with headboards, and a walk-in wardrobe in the two-bedroom model. So, while it is simple, it has an unusually spacious feel, and the same sense of luxury as in the master.

The New Holland has a family bathroom with full-sized bath, and the blue-backed feature shelving and vanity units look stunning here.

OUR VERDICT
The New Holland is a beautiful lodge with a very striking design theme. The front has a tried and tested layout for Willerby, but the interior design is completely new and fresh, so we think it works beautifully to deliver a quality look and feel.

The fireplace is a total delight to the eye and the kitchen has a wonderful bistro feel to it, with plenty of cupboard space and worksurface for long stays.
The master bedroom will have serious pulling power for buyers, so overall this is a lodge that any potential buyer should fall in love with instantly.
Sitting at the top of its range, the New Holland is stunning, and it was a real people-pleaser at The Great Holiday Home Show.
