Always sounding a bit like something from a Carry On film, the annual Loo of the Year Awards have been running since 1987 and are keenly contested by hospitality providers all over the UK.
In the recent 2021 Loo of the Year Awards, a touring caravan park in the Snowdonia National Park cleaned up with a hat-trick of accolades.
The high standards set by Llanberis Touring Park, owned by Shrewsbury-based Morris Leisure, were recognised when it won the national category award for holiday parks in Wales for its washrooms, which received the highest diamond grading.
Park managers Jo and Leo Freeman also collected the overall Individual Washroom Cleaner of the Year Awards for the UK and Ireland. The couple attributed the awards to a team effort, along with assistant managers Peter Houghton and Cindy Abbott. The awards are Jo and Leo’s swansong, as they are set to retire to Ireland later this year.
Morris Leisure also recorded success at its Ludlow Touring Park, where the park’s washrooms won the Baby Changing Facilities Award for England and a diamond grading.
