A number of mobile park homes on different parks all around the country are having additional thermal insulation added on top of their existing cladding. It is critical that the existing/original cladding is in good order before having this work carried out. Any moisture or deterioration in the cladding can lead to rot and damage to the structural timbers. We have identified a number of homes with this fault in recent weeks. Just because a contractor purports to be a specialist does not necessarily mean they are suitably qualified. We have been called to several homes where the home has been seriously structurally damaged by incompetent & unqualified contractors. Additional external insulation may also prevent windows and doors being replaced and can also block drainage vents in windows and doors.

Please have an independent inspection before you have any work carried out to ascertain the true structural condition of your home, otherwise you may be masking existing problems and creating greater ones in years to come. The other important consideration before investing in additional insulation, is how soon you will recoup your money in domestic fuel savings? If you have a satisfactory skirting around the bottom of your home providing protection from the elements to the underside of your home; it is likely that the factory installed insulation is sufficient. This universal powdered paint additive is used to combat heat loss and mould/mildew growth in park homes. The product has found many applications from the oil industry to paint additives for roof coatings in hot climates and heat retention/mould control in temperate climates together with insulation of cold hand railing and high temperature process vessels.
 
Insulat-MT consists of minute inert hollow ceramic spheres. These hollow microspheres have a vacuum at the centre which reduce the transfer of heat through the paint. By reducing the heat transfer the surface temperature of the painted wall is increased by a couple of degrees and consequently condensation is greatly reduced or eliminated, without moisture mould and mildew cease to grow.
 
Insulat-MT is available in bottles for addition to any type of paint. Two bottles are required for 5L of paint. It mixes easily with the paint and is applied in the normal way by brush or roller. Two coats are recommended for the most effective thermal insulation and three coats for homes with condensation problems. Insulat-MT can save up to 10% on heating costs and at the same time prevents mould and mildew. The surface can be over painted with another coat of standard emulsion without affecting the barrier.
