The Navigator’s Lodge

Lounge/diner
The main entrance door, which has a top glazed section, leads directly into the back of the dining area which is in an open-plan arrangement with the lounge and kitchen.

There are two cupboards on the right as you enter. The first conceals the central heating boiler, and the other is a cloaks cupboard.

Carpet in the lounge and dining areas is beige and the ceiling is vaulted with flush-mounted spotlights.

Décor in the lounge is very striking with the curtains (in shades of blue in a narrow vertical stripe pattern) immediately conveying a nautical theme. The suite is upholstered in a dark blue fabric and comprises three two-seater sofas which, in the show model we viewed, had been arranged so that two faced each other and the other was at right angles to them. In this arrangement, those sitting there would benefit not only from the fire on the front wall, but would also be able to see views through the windows, or the television which will probably be mounted above the electric fire.

The wall between the two sets of French doors is a feature in turquoise finish with a wall-mounted electric fire with a black surround and living flame effect. A flat-screen television could be mounted above the fire – appropriate connections are in place there.

Furniture throughout the lounge and dining area is in a warm medium-colour wood. There is a coffee table, which fits neatly between the three sofas, a lamp table and a sideboard.

Between the deep window on the side wall and the kitchen area, there is just enough room for a sideboard which has two generous-sized base cupboards with four drawers between them. A mirror on the wall above has a wooden frame matching the rest of the furniture.

The dining area is on the opposite side of the home, close to the side entrance door. In this three-bedroom model, six high-back chairs are provided at the rectangular dining table, and there is more informal dining space at the back of the lounge where two breakfast bar stools are provided.
