Lounge
Occupying a large proportion of the living area, which is in an L-shape at the front of  The Cottage, the lounge exudes the charm of a previous era.

The ceiling is white panelled, vaulted, with an exposed stained timber beam, and the flooring is laminate – a feature that will allow the owners to use rugs to great effect.
The fireplace, against the side wall, sets the tone of the whole room. That wall has a white rustic-looking brick finish and the fire is inset, beneath a traditional-style mantlepiece. The fire is electric, but has the appearance of an old-fashioned stove (even down to its glowing coals).

Although this fireplace looks as if it comes from a time before television was even invented, Cambrian’s designers have made a concession to modern living by building in unobtrusive media and TV points.

Opening windows are in the alcoves on either side of the fireplace and wooden Venetian blinds with slim slats are fitted here. There are curtains at the French doors in a pale coloured fabric with a stripe pattern which tones perfectly with the sofas and chair.

There are two sofas – one to seat two people and the other three. In addition, there is a lovely occasional chair which fits into one of the alcoves beside the fire and a large footstool.

An occasional table, ideal for use as either a coffee table or as a lamp table is also provided. The living area is illuminated by discreet flush-mounted ceiling lights and wall lights, but a reading light on the occasional table might prove a welcome supplement.

Behind the sofa facing the fireplace there is a console table in shabby-chic styling with a small drawer under the table top.
