Keen to find out more about this organisation, and what help it can offer park home owners, we spoke to LEASE’s chief executive officer Anthony Essien.
Legal advice
We started by asking him about his own background, what was he doing before becoming CEO of Lease? He explained, ‘I am a lawyer by profession, and was LEASE’s principal legal adviser prior to becoming its chief executive.’
We then asked how LEASE actually came about as an organisation, and when it officially started helping leaseholders. He continued, ‘The Leasehold Enfranchisement Advisory Service, as LEASE was initially titled, began helping leaseholders in February 1994. Its brief was to provide advice, in the main, on the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993.’
What is LEASE’s main brief as an organisation? Anthony replied, ‘We help people to solve their problems relating to leasehold housing in England and Wales and park homes in England.’
