Charity fundraisers at two established Shropshire companies, including holiday caravan retailer Salop Leisure, have raised £12,000 to be shared by the Midlands and Wales Air Ambulance Services.
Morris Leisure and Morris Lubricants, based in Shrewsbury, raised the money by organising an annual raft race, as well as by staff taking part in a Three Peaks and a zip wire challenge. They also played a charity football match against Salop Leisure at the Greenhouse Meadow Stadium. Additional fundraisers included a bingo session, raffles and collections.
Maria Jones, regional fundraising manager for Midlands Air Ambulance, said, ‘We need to raise £6 million every year to run the service.
‘We really enjoyed working with Morris Lubricants and Morris Leisure during 2014 and we are delighted with the fantastic amount of money raised by the companies, which will pay for missions to save lives.’
