It’s a busy period for those connected to the park home world. We have seen the recent Government consultation of both park residents and industry figures over the proposed changes to the Mobile Homes Act. Then there’s the imminent second reading of the Bill relating to this legislation in Parliament. We will, of course, bring you updates on these crucial issues as they happen via our website, www.parkhomemagazine. com, and through the pages of the magazine. Look out for a special report in December’s edition.
On top of this, there were big turn outs at both the recent Exeter and Needham Market park home roadshow events, where issues such as the possible introduction of a ‘fit and proper’ person test for park site owners and the contemptible practice of sale blocking were discussed. While these very real and serious concerns need the Government’s urgent attention, it has also been heartening to see the success of this season’s summer and autumn shows. The HERCMA events at Hull and Beaulieu were fantastically well attended while other shows at Brockenhurst and the golf club in Cottingham were also a success. It reflects well on the industry and those involved in organising these events that the comments from the show going public were almost uniformally positive.
