A record number of park home dwellers applied for this winter’s Park Homes Warm Home Discount scheme. We learn more…
This autumn saw record applications to the Park Homes Warm Home Discount scheme, an initiative set up by Charis to help park home residents with their energy bills.
More than 7,000 people have already applied for a £150 payment from the Ofgem-regulated scheme which, this year, is being funded by E.ON Next, Utilita, OVO and Rebel Energy.
“Historically, many park home residents have missed out on much needed financial help as a consequence of not knowing about the support available to them, but this is slowly changing” said Charis’s director of client services, Jonathan Hunt. “And increased contributions from our energy partners this year, have enabled us to distribute support to more people than ever before.
“The increased demand for the scheme we’ve seen this autumn is partly due to the heightened awareness which we continue to build, but unfortunately, it’s also driven by the extra financial pressures many households are facing this winter.”
Due to the limited nature of the funding, applications are assessed on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. The level of demand means that, at the time of publication, the available funds were near to being fully allocated.
Jonathan added: “The number of applications this winter re-emphasises how invaluable the scheme is. We’ve had recipients telling us how the payments will mean they are not having to switch off their heating to save money.”
