Members of the Ladram Bay team are congratulated at the awards ceremony after gaining the top title

The South West’s best holiday park has been officially named as Devon’s family-owned Ladram Bay Holiday Park in Budleigh Salterton.

The business beat hundreds of other eligible parks to take the top gold accolade in the Holiday Park of the Year category of this month’s South West Tourism Excellence Awards..

Judges announced their decision at the glittering awards ceremony at the Great Hall of the University of Exeter, attended by tourism chiefs and other VIP guests from across SW England..

It means that Ladram Bay could now be fast-tracked into the finals of the Visit England national finals which concludes in Liverpool in June.

The verdict of the South West award judges was based on a detailed study of Ladram Bay’s long list of achievements in recent times, and the glowing feedback provided by customers.

Recent investments in the park have included the introduction of new guest facilities, and the development of additional top-end accommodation.

Also highlighted by judges was the work undertaken by the park to protect wildlife and the natural world, and Ladram Bay’s close links with the local community.

“We’re all absolutely thrilled to have received this prestigious honour,” said  Ladram Bay director Zoe House whose family has owned the park since 1943.

“It’s especially thrilling as we last year celebrated our 80th anniversary, and enjoyed a fantastic 2023 season for holidays and holiday homes sales

Owned by the same family since 1943, Ladram Bay boasts a private beach with watersport activities

“What makes us especially proud is that the South West Excellence Award judges looked not just at the quality of our facilities, but also at the high level of customer service Ladram Bay provides.

“We have always tried to create happy memories by offering a warm and friendly atmosphere, so our team also need to take a bow for their crucial role in providing this,” added Zoe.

She said that bookings for 2024 are very strong, and that the majority of guests are either repeat visitors, or those coming as a result of a personal recommendation.

Attractions at the park include an indoor climbing wall, indoor swimming pool and outdoor splash zone, watersports equipment hire, and adventure golf course.

Family entertainment including professional cabarets run throughout summer, and there are also bar, restaurant and take-away facilities providing freshly prepared food.

Ladram Bay offers holiday caravans and lodges to hire and to own, glamping accommodation, and pitches for touring guests – and everyone has use of the park’s stunning private beach.
