We find out more about the expansion plans at an exciting new residential park home development in a beautiful part of Dorset…

A local authority has granted planning permission for more residential park homes to be sited at an exclusive new luxury development close to the beautiful South-West Coastal Path in Dorset.

Nine extra park homes, plus new road access, have been given the green-light at Montevideo Park, in Chickrell, near Weymouth.

The park had already previously been given permission for ten extra homes in October 2020. Together, the two applications will almost double the number of homes on the site – all intended for the over 50s.

Dorset Council officers said the two-bedroom units will contribute towards housing supply needs in the area.

Over the years various development applications have been approved for the site, including to change the use from a holiday park to a residential one.

Part of the new planning consent at the Dorset Park Homes’ site includes providing each unit with an electric vehicle charge point and a secure, shared, cycle store.

New trees and hedging will also be added as the new homes are developed with the site owners stating that care will be taken over great crested newts, a protected species, which are known to live in the area.

The park occupies an enviable location close to a local bus route and a range of shops.
Within a short distance of the park is outstanding countryside and Blue Flag beaches.

The park is secure and exclusive with gated entry and high-spec homes, many with far reaching views, good-sized plots and on-plot parking. One well behaved pet per home is permitted.
