Over the winter, park home residents around the UK have endured some extreme weather conditions. We find out more…

November’s unseasonably hostile weather conditions saw many UK parks covered in thick snow, while others were saturated with a month’s worth of rain in 24 hours and also buffeted by 50mph winds as Storm Bert wreaked havoc.

These snowy scenes from Warwickshire development Marston Edge really got the residents at this Avon Estates’ site in the Christmas mood! Alas, we were denied a ‘white Christmas’ by the time the festive season rolled around!

On a more serious note, Billing Aquadrome, in Northamptonshire, was hit badly by Storm Bert, flooding for the third time in 2024. Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service had to rescue 43 people from the holiday development – where many reside permanently.
A nearby leisure centre accommodated 52 people and 22 displaced dogs, the fire service said.

Billing Aquadrome is now owned by Meadow Bay Villages. After the site was sold to the site operator in April 2024, chief executive Geoffrey Smith said one of his main priorities would be reducing the risk of flooding

All of this extreme weather came before Storm Darragh, which laid waste to large sections of the UK and Ireland just as this issue was being readied for print!
