And our winner is…
You’ve spent the last few months voting and, now the results are in, we can reveal that our Residential Park of the Year for 2023 is Berkeleyparks’ Turners Hill Park, in West Sussex! We celebrated with residents and staff at a fantastic awards ceremony, finding out what makes this park so special in the process…
Having received votes from park home residents all over the UK nominating their park in our Residential Park of the Year competition, we can now reveal that this year’s winner is…. Turners Hill Park, in West Sussex!
The residents of this leafy rural park obviously love living at this pretty, over-50s site, with many taking the time to send in their votes and explain just why life there’s so great! The park boasts a shade over 250 homes and its own clubhouse, which was put to good use for the presentation of the competition trophy and the revelries that followed! More than 100 residents were in attendance to celebrate this momentous achievement for the park, and for its operator, Berkeleyparks.
Speaking after the awards presentation, Nathan Goodyear, Managing Director of Berkeleyparks, said: ‘It’s wonderful to have received PH&HL’s Residential Park of the Year award and even more special that this has been voted for by our residents. It’s a credit to our hard-working park team and fantastic community at Turners Hill.’
This year’s Residential Park of the Year competition was keenly contested with a record number of sites nominated by their residents, But, after all the votes were counted and PH&HL’s expert judging panel convened to discuss the merits of the leading contenders, Turners Hill Park was crowned our 2023 champion! The stylish new awards trophy was duly presented to the park’s residents and park owner by the magazine’s Editor Alex Melvin, plus sponsors of the competition Towergate Insurance at a lovely event in the park’s clubhouse on 9 October.
Journalists from this magazine have visited Turners Hill Park many times over the years and the site has been going for more than 50 years, with mature planting and woodland surrounding most of the homes. This alone gives it a leafy, almost ‘magical’ feel, with many of the homes tucked away in woodland or surrounded by shrubs, looking like cottages in a fairytale.
Add to this the fact that the park is almost unique among residential sites for having its own clubhouse for residents to use plus an on-park shop, and you can start to see why people love living here so much. Add in the fact that it’s also so close to Gatwick Airport for those who love their foreign sojourns and you really are onto a winner!
Speaking at the awards presentation, PH&HL Editor Alex Melvin said: ‘It’s been an absolute pleasure to oversee this year’s Residential Park of the Year competition. As a magazine, we love to shine a light on the best in our sector and Berkeleyparks’ Turners Hill is certainly a worthy winner of our competition. Once again, congratulations to everybody associated with Turners Hill for making it such a special place to live.’
Echoing these sentiments, Elisa Hadland, head of partnerships (lifestyle division) at competition sponsor Towergate Insurance, said: ‘Towergate are really proud sponsors of the Park Home & Holiday Living, 2023 Residential Park of the year award.
‘It has been great to be part of such a successful campaign. We would like to thank all the parks who took part and to all the residents who took the time to vote.
‘A huge congratulations goes to the winner – Turners Hill Park.’
