Some people dream about running a pub or a B&B as a semi-retirement job, but Hertfordshire businessman Johnathon Tice has purchased five acres of land with six luxury log cabins and a residential property in Cambridgeshire so he can run his own holiday park. After securing a £450,000 funding package from NatWest and Lombard Asset Finance, he plans to reside there with his wife, who will run the business alongside him.
The newly formed Fields End Lodges Limited is located on the site of the current Fields End Water Caravan Park in Doddington, which currently offers a range of short-stay accommodation options of UK holidaymakers, including log cabins, glamping pods, a caravan park and a campsite. Mr Tice enthused: ‘This is an incredibly exciting move and something my wife and I have discussed for a long time. Originally, I planned to retire upon selling my current business but, with this acquisition, I feel I’ll get the best of both worlds, particularly with the UK holiday market being so buoyant right now.’
George Devasia, relationship manager at NatWest explained: ‘It was fantastic to work with Jonathan and get this deal over the line. At NatWest, we’re committed to helping entrepreneurs create businesses that are not only successful but also make a real difference to local areas. This deal ticks those boxes, so was a no brainer for us.’
