Twenty new lodges set for Teesdale holiday park thanks to HSBC UK funding
A family-run holiday park in Teesdale is adding 20 new holiday lodges following a six-figure refinancing deal with HSBC UK. The new lodges will increase accommodation at the park by over 55 per cent.
Hillcrest Park, situated on the border of North Yorkshire and County Durham, will use the bank’s support to fund the groundwork and infrastructure required to house the new, bespoke holiday lodges that it plans to sell.
The park has been owned and run by wife and husband team Kate and Ed Nichols since 2011. Starting with just three cottages and a few touring pitches, it has grown in recent years and now currently hosts 35 units, consisting of five holiday cottages, 20 touring pitches, and 10 ‘glamping’ pods.
Kate Nichols, owner, Hillcrest Park said: ‘The logical next step to expansion was to add holiday lodges to our site, to compliment the cottages, pods and touring pitches we currently hold. HSBC UK was incredibly supportive and enthusiastic in our plans for growth and its backing means we are able to put the required infrastructure in place.
‘We’re big believers in giving back to the local community and we use local contractors and building suppliers wherever possible. Our hope is that the owners of the new lodges, who can visit all year round, will also spend money in the local community ensuring that Teesdale has a sustainable rural economy.’
David Slane, Area Director, HSBC UK said: ‘Kate and Ed have shown incredible passion and motivation for the future plans for Hillcrest Park and HSBC UK was delighted to provide the support needed for the next phase in their growth.
‘Their dedication to supporting the local economy is laudable and we’ve no doubt the growth of Hillcrest Park will have a fantastic, positive impact on the local area and wider community.’
