Award winning parks

junenewsholparkSunset Park, in Hambleton, has been named as a finalist in the ‘Caravan Holiday Park of the Year’ category of the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2012. Also in the final is North Norfolk’s Kelling Heath Holiday Park.

As finalists, the parks now go forward to the glittering awards ceremony, which is being held at Athena, an art deco gem located in the heart of Leicester’s cultural quarter. All finalists are guaranteed to receive either a Gold, Silver, Bronze or Highly Commended Award.

Commenting on the finalists, James Berresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive, said, “I would like to congratulate all those nominated as VisitEngland Awards for Excellence finalists this year. This is no small achievement in a year when we have received a record number of submissions. I wish everyone all the best for the final.”

Speaking on behalf of Sunset Park, Chairman, Michael Taylor said, “I am delighted that Sunset Park has reached the finals. We continually strive to provide a quality that goes beyond our customers’ expectations.”

Nicola Badley, Environmental Officer, explained why Kelling Heath had been recognised for the Sustainable Tourism Award: “We’ve invested in a wide range of ecofeatures all aimed at helping to reduce the park’s carbon footprint. These include two rainwater harvesting systems, solar panels on all three touring facilities, waste reduction and recycling schemes as well as a bio-diesel processor.”
